CLIN treatments use nitrocarburizing (chemical regeneration and filling) salts and passivation salts which, when heated, become liquid.
The salts used for CLIN treatments do not contain any trace of cyanide. They consist of alkaline mineral salts (carbonates and cyanates) and are therefore in no way concerned by the REACH regulations or by the SEVESO directive.
Thanks to the associated production equipment, local permits (in the EU or outside the EU) for the setting up of a production site offering CLIN treatment services can therefore be obtained easily and quickly.
In addition, supported by the German Research Council, a study on the ecological impact of the various nitrocarburizing processes was published in 2011 by Bremen University (Germany) favouring CLIN processes over gas nitrocarburizing processes.
This study assesses the ecological and health impact of various nitrocarburizing processes, taking into consideration the energy consumed, the emissions and wastes created, on an annual production of 1390 tonnes of crankshafts.
The image of salt bath nitriding, put about by our many competitors proposing gas processes, is therefore not justified and remains unfounded.
CLIN treatments have a good future in front of them, as our constant growth both in the EU and outside the EU proves.
